Animal Caretaker (Jupiter)
This position provides daily care, exercise, and feeding for Furry Friends resident animals. As an animal caretaker, you ensure that the dogs and cats at our shelter get the time, love, and attention they need to help them as they wait for their new homes.

Wage: Starting at $13.50/hour
Daily cleaning of indoor/outdoor animal areas, floors, dishes, bedding, etc.
Spot cleaning of animal and public areas throughout the day.
Feeding the animals.
Identifying and reporting animal health problems to your supervisor or the shelter medicine team.
Socializing and grooming the animals as needed.
Doing laundry, dishes, washing windows, cleaning, and mopping public areas as needed.
Providing a healthy, safe, clean and pleasant environment and facilities for the animals and the public.
Showing compassion toward animals and people.
Treating all animals humanely, properly, and with compassion at all times, regardless of the situation.
Maintaining a friendly demeanor and providing good customer service while assisting with adoptions.
Working respectfully with other staff members.
Stocking supplies.
Filling in for other areas and performing other tasks/functions as needed, including helping out at special events.
Qualifications and skills:
Good interpersonal, communication, customer service, and time management skills.
Passion for animal welfare.
Comfort and ability to work with animals of different dispositions and those who may exhibit medical and behavioral problems.
Initiative to work with minimal supervision and direction.
Maturity, good judgment, and a professional appearance.
Ability to identify animal behavioral or medical issues that should be brought to the immediate attention of a supervisor or the shelter medicine team.
Familiarity with animals, knowledge of animal behavior or experience volunteering or working with a rescue group, humane society, foster care involvement or other animal welfare agency are preferred but not required.
Working conditions:
Physical ability to walk and/or stand on your feet throughout a normal workday required.
Ability to safely move animals and goods, requiring repetitive motions of legs, arms, and hands.
Ability to push up to 150pounds and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday required
Frequent exposure to cats and dogs
Employee may be required to work alone or in teams
Employee will will be required to work outside in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat
CLINIC VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Job Type: Full-time
Wage: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greeting clients, obtaining patient history and documenting in the electronic medical record
Assisting the veterinarian with physical exams
Client education and communication
Handle basic care duties, administering medication, collecting samples, and checking vitals
Assist with diagnostic imaging and lab work, including blood tests, analysis of urine samples and cytology
Provide assistance to the veterinarian during surgical procedures, this includes anesthetic monitoring and recovery of the patient
Cleaning and sterilizing instrumentation, stocking the exam and operating rooms, and confirming that equipment is all working properly
Maintaining clinic inventory
QUALIFICATIONS:
Clinical skills and an understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
Passion for working with animals and clients
Are compassionate, empathetic and meticulous
Possess stellar communication skills
Ability to prioritize and manage numerous different patient needs at one time
Willingness to take direction
2+ year of experience in a veterinary technician role
Knowledge of Avimark Veterinary Software
Be able to comfortably lift 45 lbs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Potential for standing/walking/bending up to eight to ten (8-10) hours a day.
Must be able to perform physical tasks like animal restraint, physical examinations of animals, scrubbing cages, cleaning floors and more.
Proficient in handling syringes and needles.
Quick reflexes and ability to use both hands simultaneously (example: open cage door while handling animal, react to escaping animal).
Occasional lifting of up to a hundred (100)pounds with assistance.
Ability to bend and squat in order to leash/harness, and/or pick up an animal.
Ability to see well enough to move safely around the building, distinguish animal body language, read instructions, and read an animal’s paperwork.
Ability to hear if an animal is giving warning signs, such as growling, yelping or hissing.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
Ability to cope with a very loud environment due to animal noises.
Must not have strong allergies to dogs, cats or other companion animals that can’t be managed by medication, or to chemicals used in grooming or cleaning.
Ability to deal with strong and unpleasant odors.
